Show Notes: Behind The Scenes Of Entrepreneur Magazine With Jason Feifer, Editor-In-Chief – Traits Of A Successful Entrepreneur
Qualities Of A Successful Entrepreneur: Adaptability
Time and time again, Jason would get asked the same question. âWhat are the qualities of a successful entrepreneur?â After some reflection and observation, Jason found that it always comes down to adaptability. The people who can be excited about adapting and changing are the most successful.
The most successful entrepreneurs understand that failure is part of success. So, donât be afraid to get it wrong sometimes. However, how you adapt and rebound from setbacks is the key. Successful entrepreneurs commit themselves to solving their problems. They do this because they understand what is on the other side is worth it.
Find Your Value & Confidence As A Successful Entrepreneur
If you are unsure of what the world wants from you. Start listening to the questions people ask you.
Jason Feifer, Editor-In-Chief, Entrepreneur Magazine
Pay attention to the questions that people ask you. Essentially, this is a way to find out your value. They they wouldnât ask if you couldnât provide value. The more you understand what your value is, the more you can deliver upon it.
If you feel less confident or unworthy of success, don’t worry, it is normal. The first step to getting over that feeling is knowing that you are not alone. People at all levels of success feel this way, and it is a common feeling. Once you understand that, you can reach out to people like yourself and build a community. More importantly, if you have a support system you can get through it.
Activities Of A Success Entrepreneur: Networking & Offering Value
Making connections with people is one of the most valuable things you can do as an entrepreneur. If you can make genuine connections with people it will aid in your success. Simply put, the relationship has to give value to both parties.
Jason explained that he showed value by being easy to work with. Offering value means understanding exactly what they are looking for. Then making yourself the best version of that. Additionally, you want to be useful to the person if you want to make a real connection. There are no shortcuts you can take to get there. Nevertheless, if you put in the work it requires, you can be successful.
3 Common Mistakes Of A New Entrepreneur & How A Successful Entrepreneur Overcomes Them
First, Holding On To The First Idea Too Long
Most of the time your first idea isnât going to be a hit. But you need to start somewhere. You need to get something out. From there, you need to tap into your adaptability. This means viewing your first idea as a jumping-off point for bigger ideas and opportunities.
Second, Not Understanding Their Customer
Who is your product for? While this sounds like an easy question, a lot of entrepreneurs fail to understand their audience the first time around. Or their target audience is different from what they expected. Then they have to rebrand to fit their new audience and reach them where they are. If you understand who it is that you’re talking to from the beginning, you will save time, money, and confusion.
Third, Having A Bad Relationship With Growth
Sometimes entrepreneurs grow their business too fast. While this can be a good thing, it can also be bad. Entrepreneurs tend to make decisions that are good for the short term but arenât helpful long term. As an entrepreneur, you have to think strategically about the company’s next steps. Additionally, you should also be considering what you are actually able to manage. If you donât manage your relationship with growth, you could create more than you can handle, stay stagnant or lock the business into an unsolvable situation.
